Abstract: This paper examines the lasting impact of tourism specialization on per capita income in Spanish municipalities, aiming to understand the factors driving these effects. We employ two distinct approaches. The first one focuses on tourism development since the initial boom in the 1960s and relies on cross-sectional variation in tourism exposure related to amenities like beaches and weather for identification. The second method looks at a later wave of tourism development in the 1990s, using a shiftshare analysis that combines the share of residents from tourist-source countries in each municipality with the growth rate of tourists from these countries throughout Spain. The findings indicate that municipalities with the highest growth in tourism specialization now exhibit lower per capita income. A municipality experiencing an increase in tourism per capita over time equal to the sample median has a per capita income between 21% and 22% lower as of 2019, depending on the approach used. This decline in income is associated with an increase in temporary job contracts, with a decrease in industrial employment, and with lower levels of educational attainment.

Abstract: " Objective - This research aims to examine the influence of populist movements on the reputation of nations as travel destinations, addressing the gap in the literature regarding the relationship between populism and the tourist image of destinations. The study adopts a theoretical approach supported by empirical indicators to analyse this global phenomenon (Lopes, 2011) (Martínez & Alvarez, 2010) (Chaulagain et al., 2019). Methodology - The study utilises indicators from the Travel & Tourism Competitive Index (TTDI - Travel and Tourism Development Index) of the World Economic Forum (World Economic Forum, 2019), chosen for their coherence, interpretability, and comparability. Additionally, a review of political, economic, and tourism literature complements the analysis to provide a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between populism and tourism (Gallarza, Saura, & Garcia, 2002; Pike, 2007). Findings - The findings highlight a complex relationship between the rise of populism and the deterioration of a tourism destination's image. While populist movements are not the sole cause of a decline in destination attractiveness, their impact on political stability, economic conditions, international relations, openness, and other related factors collectively contributes to the reputation and competitiveness of these destinations. Novelty - This study fills a significant gap in the academic literature by exploring the connection between populism and tourism destination images on a global scale, an area previously addressed only in specific case studies (Gallarza, Saura, & Garcia, 2002; Pike, 2007). The originality lies in integrating TTDI indicators with the theoretical implications of political phenomena, offering valuable insights for both researchers and policymakers. Type of Paper - Empirical"

Abstract: " Objective - The present study aims to develop a methodology that can be used to analyze the level of digitalization of the tourism sector in regions by using the private digitalization index for regions and comparing it with the threshold values criterion for regional differentiation through a group of digital infrastructure indicators through which the level of digitalization of regions can be evaluated and applied to the North Caucasus Federal District. Methodology - The work methodology is based on a descriptive and analytical approach to describing the phenomenon of the study's title and a literary approach based on the analysis of sources, literature, graphs, and statistics that examine issues related to the relationship between digitalization and tourism to develop a methodology for analyzing the level of digitization in the tourism sector in the North Caucasus Federal District. Findings - After comparing the results of the private digitalization index for regions with the threshold values of regional differentiation, it is clear that all regions of the North Caucasus Federal District fall into the second group (outsider regions) because all values of the private digitalization index for regions are less than 1.0. Novelty - The current study develops a methodology that can be used to analyze the level of digitization in the tourism sector in the regions in order to find out the current level of digitization in the regions in order to work on the development of digital technologies. Abstract: " Objective - Artificial intelligence (AI) is an emerging field in the service industry. To increase customer satisfaction either through customisation or personalisation and to counter the challenge of finding skilled manpower, AI adoption in the hospitality and tourism industry (H&TI) can be a milestone achievement. Methodology - This study applied a combined approach of performance analysis and science mapping to identify the growth and citation pattern, co-word analysis and thematic development based on the literature published in Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases since its evolution. Findings and novelty - Publication growth on AI adoption in H&TI has taken a manifold turn in the last five years. Science mapping analysis, such as co-word clustering, developed themes like interconnectivity, connectivity, experience, transformation, and diversity, which can help H&TI match the growing expectations of travelers and increase business. Five central themes were developed based on the article Bibliographic Coupling Analysis (BCA), which highlighted the critical information that can lay the foundation for H&TI to move forward in AI adoption to survive and stay ahead in this competitive market. Additionally, this article has uncovered important information such as authors, countries, and organisation contributions, which can also generate critical information. Future researchers can explore the uncovered area of the study and unearth the hidden information. Type of Paper - Review"

Abstract: Medical Value Travel (MVT), commonly referred to as medical tourism has become a major contributor to India's international trade in health services and is experiencing rapid growth. India's advantage lies in high-quality medical treatment offered at affordable prices. Medical tourists avail of a range of procedures with hospitals nowadays also offering robotic surgeries and AI-driven treatments. Additionally, India is also becoming increasingly popular for alternative medications and wellness tourism, offering traditional medical care services through AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy). However, the recent political developments in Bangladesh and the subsequent severe impact on the MVT sector highlight the need for diversification of source markets. To make the MVT sector in India more resilient this policy brief identifies the key challenges faced by this sector and provides recommendations to address these in order to attract a wider range of foreigners to seek cost-effective and holistic health solutions in India.
