    Abstract: In recent years, attention towards the Cultural and Creative industries (CCIs) has been largely renewed. It has become a focal point in management researches for their weight in the economy as well as for their laboratory nature of creativity and innovation practices. Nonetheless, it is not clear whether the present attention towards the CCIs emerged because of internal sector dynamics or is the result of targeted institutional and political attention. Understanding the origin of this perspective and the structuring of associated concepts is important in terms of managerial practices and research: helping CCIs' development on the one hand or understanding and promoting awareness of CCIs on the other hand. In this perspective, this article highlights how the concept of CCIs has gradually imposed itself. It focuses on the context of the European Union. We argue that a thorough analysis of the content of the various Communications issued by the European Commission helps to weigh up the growing weight of CCIs' issues, in what sense and meaning the concept has been mobilized, and its place in public policy actions, beyond long-established cultural policies.
    Abstract: Ces dernières années, l'attention portée aux industries culturelles et créatives (ICC) s'est largement renouvelée. Celles-ci sont en effet devenues un point focal des recherches en économie et gestion du fait de leur poids dans la société ainsi que par leur caractère de laboratoire des modes de créativité et d'innovation. On peut néanmoins s'interroger pour savoir si cette attention portée aux ICC a émergé en raison de la dynamique interne propre au secteur ou si elle n'est pas plutôt le résultat d'un ciblage des politiques publiques mettant ce secteur particulièrement en avant. Comprendre l'origine de l'attention portée aujourd'hui aux ICC et celle de la génération des concepts associés est donc important particulièrement intéressant à la fois pour mieux appréhender les stratégies sectorielles et pour éclairer la structuration et la construction des thématiques de recherche associées. Dans cette perspective, cet article éclaire, à partir du contexte européen, la manière dont le concept d'ICC s'est progressivement imposé dans le champ institutionnel. L'analyse approfondie du contenu des différentes communications émises, au fil des ans, par la Commission européenne permet de mesurer le poids croissant qu'y ont pris des enjeux des ICC, la manière dont la signification et le sens de la notion ont été construits, la place qu'elle a prise dans les actions publiques au-delà de politiques culturelles établies de longue date.

    Abstract: In 2011 UEFA, the governing body of European football, introduced the Financial Fair Play Regulation (FFPR), consisting of a set of financial restraints to be met by clubs as a prerequisite for participation to its competitions. The aim of the FFPR was to introduce financial discipline into the clubs' decision-making processes, and ultimately protect the long-term viability of the European football industry. The reform was criticized because of possible unintended detrimental consequences. In particular, Peeters and Szymanski 2014 provided a model-based ex-ante simulation analysis showing that the reform would increase the profitability of clubs, but also tilt the competitive balance in favor of the top teams, thus reducing the interest of fans and investors as one of the main attractions in sports is precisely that the best team does not always win. Exploiting an original dataset between the seasons 2007-2008 and 2019-2020, we provide an ex-post econometric evaluation of the effects of the introduction of the FFPR revealing causal evidence that largely vindicates those ex-ante predictions.

    Abstract: The paper examines the impact of cultural characteristics of countries on the consequences of the global financial crisis of 2008-2009.The analysis revealed, What countries, in which decisions were made quickly and smoothly, fell less than the others.., This influence was maintained in the analysis of cultural transmission mechanisms, with the addition of which there was significance in other cultural characteristics: for example, levels of individualism and autonomy negatively affected the economy during the recession, and the distance of power and the hierarchy of society led to milder consequences. When dividing countries into groups by cultural characteristics, it turned out, that countries with similar values suffered comparable damage in 2009. In addition, the dynamics of economic development in the pre-crisis period was important: collectivist countries emerged from the crisis less painfully, As opposed to individualistic.

    Abstract: Football is a sport that arouses enormous enthusiasm, transaction figures are increasingly exorbitant, European football clubs have a particular economic model, whose owners expectations are atypical. In this article we carry out an analysis of the income and expenses of the first division clubs of England, Spain, France, Germany and Italy, as well as a stock market analysis for a sample of four clubs belonging to these championships which are Manchester United, Olympique Lyonnais, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus which are clubs listed on the stock exchange. Financial performance is not always the ultimate goal of football investors; they may be motivated by other emotional factors that justify their spending. Only the leading clubs in the five major European championships, regular in the Champions League, achieve significant income which is ensured mainly by audiovisual rights. These clubs recruit the best players in the world and offer very high salaries.
    Abstract: Le football est un sport qui suscite énormément d'engouement, les chiffres des transactions sont de plus en plus exorbitants, les clubs européens de football ont un modèle économique particulier, dont les attentes des propriétaires sont atypiques. Dans le présent article nous procédons à une analyse des revenus et des dépenses des clubs de première division de l'Angleterre, l'Espagne, la France, l'Allemagne et l'Italie, ainsi qu'une analyse boursière pour un échantillon de quatre clubs appartenant à ces championnats qui sont Manchester United, l'Olympique Lyonnais, Borussia Dortmund et la Juventus qui sont des clubs cotés en bourse. La performance financière n'est pas toujours le but ultime des investisseurs dans le football, ceux-ci peuvent être motivés par d'autres facteurs émotionnels qui justifient leurs dépenses. Seulement les clubs leaders dans les cinq grands championnats européens, réguliers en Ligue des champions réalisent des revenus importants qui sont assurés surtout par les droits audiovisuels. Ces clubs recrutent les meilleurs joueurs mondiaux et offrent des salaires très élevés.

    Abstract: By using an econometric approach this paper looks at the evolution of the world wine industry in the period 1961-2005. A particular stylized fact is the appearance of nontraditional producing and exporting countries of wine from the beginning of the nineties. We show that the success of these new producing and exporting countries can be explained by the importance of the demand from non-producing countries with little or no tradition of wine consumption, relative to the world demand. This stylized fact is consistent with a testable implication of the switching cost literature and to the best of our knowledge this is the first time that this implication is tested.
