| Abstract: | The paper deals with the intonation of native speakers of several regional variants of Russian. I analyze how simple characteristics of pitch movement are connected to biological sex, age, place of living, and type of spontaneous text. According to my primary hypothesis, the distribution of pitch in “low”, “middle” and “high” parts of the pitch range and the number of movements from one range into other ones can predict the aforementioned characteristics of the recordings as well as reveal the individual characteristics of speakers (Vol’skaya 2014, Fery 2017). I demonstrate that in my model the only significant parameter is the biological sex of the speakers, which means that this distribution is unlikely to be determined by the regional differences. The study has been conducted as a part of the project on statistical analysis of regional variants of Standard Russian and minority languages of Russia |

| Abstract: | Agricultural productivity in the Central Asian republics of the USSR stopped growing from the late 1970s and declined in the 1990s when the transition to the market occurred. As a result, most agricultural goods were uncompetitive on the both the domestic market and the world market, and the agricultural trade balance deteriorated as imports grew faster than exports. Although there have been a few success stories – cereals in Uzbekistan, meat production in Azerbaijan, oil seeds in Kazakhstan – the overall picture is not one of agriculture as the driving force of the region’s future growth. We argue, however, that the relative decline of agriculture is consistent with international experience. In ‘economic miracle’ countries, the share of agriculture fell faster than in other countries because the sector donated labour to the industrial sector, which was the engine of growth. The problem in Central Asia is not the slow growth of agricultural output, but the slow growth of productivity in agriculture, which fails to increase the competitiveness of agricultural products and leads to an inability of the rural population to move to more productive industrial activities. |

| Abstract: | In this paper, a description of sentential negation makers in Russian Sign Language (RSL) is provided. Two types of these markers exist. The first one is a negative sign – a manual negator. The second type is markers that are expressed by facial expressions, and head movements – non-manual negation. Moreover, this observation of sentential negation presents the frequency of manual negators, and the distribution of non-manual negation. The data also shows that in negative constructions the basic word order changes. In addition, I offer an analysis that deals with this phenomenon. |

| Abstract: | China is the world largest soybean importer and imported 93.5 Million Metric Tons (MMT) of soybeans in 2016, about 65% of global soybean imports. China imports soybeans mainly from Brazil, US, and Argentina. The shares of these three countries in China’s imports were about 44%, 42%, and 9% in 2016. Canada, Uruguay, and Russia also export soybeans to China. The shares of these countries in total Chinese soybean imports were about 2.1%, 1.9% and 0.5% in 2016, respectively. |

| Abstract: | Recent geopolitical changes in Crimea initiated the process of massive identity transformation among ethnic majority and minority groups. Current study was aimed at examining the role of multiple identities and acculturation strategies in the psychological well-being of Crimean Tatar minority (N=80). The study revealed high motivation for ethno-cultural continuity among Crimean Tatars. The combination of ethnic, religious and place identities positively predicts both life-satisfaction and self-esteem. These combined identities also positively predict integration strategy and negatively assimilation strategy. Combined national and Russian ethno-linguistic identitiy positively predicts integration and assimilation strategies and negatively predicts separation strategy. The findings indicate the importance of taking historical, political, social context into account in the studies on minority issues |

| Abstract: | This article is devoted to a reconstruction of Soviet discussions on long cycles based on an analysis of a wide range of unknown and little-known historiographical sources and archival materials. The role of discussions in the formation of assessments and ideas about long cycles is shown. In particular, we show that the controversy between Kondratiev and Gosplan about the economic development of the USSR had a noticeable effect on the negative evaluation of Kondratiev’s method for identifying long cycles. The study defines the relations between Kondratiev’s views on the problem of long cycles and his probabilistic-statistical approach to the analysis of society. |

| Abstract: | This research investigates the relation of personality metatraits and negotiation styles, and the role of negotiation self-efficacy in it. This study was interviewed of Russians with negotiation background at the extractive industry (N=119). Participants were given Thomas-Kilmann questionnaire, CPM-Q personality questionnaire and negotiation self-efficacy questionnaire. It was found that some personality metatraits are significant and direct predictors of negotiation styles and, additionally, negotiation self-efficacy. Nevertheless, negotiation self-efficacy does not mediate the influence of personality metatraits on negotiation styles |
